Maintain Healthy Weight

To maintain healthy weight it is more than just going on a diet. This requires a mindset change to think about how you do your daily routine. Picture this scenario, you’re feeling hungry and it is in between lunch and supper. What is your normal habit when this happens? Do you go to the pantry and reach into the cookies? Maintaining a healthy body weight requires a change of habits and routines. You have to let go of old habits.

Maintain Healthy Weight with Habits and Routines

The best way to maintain a healthy weight is by learning how to replace current habits that are less healthy and with habits that are healthier. Start with one and then the next until you have a very efficient lifestyle. For example, I love potato chips, but I know if I start with 1 chip soon I’ll have consumed the entire bag. So I started pairing potato chips with fruit or other healthy vegetable choices. Instead of 250 grams of potato chips, I take out 150 grams of potato chips and 3 sticks of celery or pickles or even an apple. When I started changing these habits chips wasn’t my only source of snack food. It didn’t take long before I stopped buying them and now I choose a healthier chip option that isn’t addictive.

This works for every part of your diet. When you are shopping for groceries is also a great time to start looking for new healthier habits. I spend more time on the perimeter of the grocery store and I look at all the different vegetables and fruit they have. First I will fill my cart with those that I prefer the most. Then I will explore some new alternatives. I didn’t like cucumbers, but when I saw how little carbs they have I tried using them to make a salad dressing. With some seasoning, garlic and lime juice it is now my new gourmet dressing. This takes some time and practice but if you put your mind towards it your health and weight will follow.

Life Hacks

I go into a lot more detail in my book about healthy lifestyle and strategy for weight loss. The bottom line is that you need to adjust and tweak your lifestyle until it is a newer better version of the one you lived yesterday. Over time it will become yours and healthier. You will be happier and more motivated to continue to adjust to make things better. Take 5 or 10 minutes a day and watch or read content online and look for ways to improve. Many people call these life hacks, but it really is just more ways to improve your current habits.
